On February 26, 2020, the Credit Union National Association awarded Liberty Federal Credit Union its Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility and Community Involvement. Named for a pioneer of the credit union movement, this award acknowledges the credit union that best displays activity that strengthens the structure of a community.
Liberty Federal Credit Union was acknowledged for its Habitat for Humanity Giveback Program through which the credit union makes a donation every time a member opens a new Vertical or Platinum Rewards Checking account. Last year, Liberty FCU raised $138,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Evansville. This spring, Habitat will begin construction of a home fully funded by Liberty FCU for the third consecutive year.
